Aconcagua, Summit of the Americas aims at informing both climbers who are interested in attempting an ascent and the general public seeking information about this mountain in particular, as well as mountaineering in general.

The book includes four distinct chapters:

Origins of Aconcagua: a detailed summary of the geologic aspects of Mt. Aconcagua, supported by charts and outlines which are an aid to easily understand the topic.

History of Aconcagua: after a great deal of research and gathering of information, this chapter discusses the most salient aspects of the area's exploration and conquest. It also includes a summary of the main goals achieved in this mountain to date.

Routes to the Aconcagua: this is a guide to the routes. It provides the reader with detailed, accurate descriptions of the most travelled routes, the ones defined by the author as the normal ones: de Los Pioneros, Falso Polaco and Los Guanacos normal routes.
These, as well as other more technical routes to the Aconcagua are described in this chapter with the support of sketches, maps and photographs

Expedition to the Aconcagua: this is the chapter where the author discusses the ascent at length, based on his own twenty-year experience and over 30 ascents to the summit of the Americas.

The chapter is divided into the six stages the author considers an expedition includes: the challenge, the objective, difficulties, preparations, the attempt and the experience.

"Mt. Aconcagua is a mythical mountain, considered a classic ascent by mountaineers all over the World. Being the second highest mountain after the Himalayas makes it unusually appealing, a sort of magnet for those who dream about reaching the highest peaks."

This is how the author refers to the powerful attraction this mountain exerts on climbers. He later discusses more intimate aspects of both the mountain and those who attempt to summit, always encouraging them to pursue a clean ascent and individual growth.
